HYOJIN JANG(張)'S PICTURE HOUSE

I really liked Paul's GDS class last semester.
Paul Young is my revered professor because he has a lot of insight about design.
I really like his wife and his designs such as logo designs.
Last semester, his class was so difficult for me, but it was so interesting.
In fact, I would like to take Paul's motion design class this semester.
However, I can't take it, because I have to take some classes for graduagtion.
I am so sorry about the fact.
I hope that I will take his class again in the future.
Anyway, his class was so great and so good.

1-2. 연구의 범위와 방법
본 연구의 범위는 1990년대 이후의 현대 그래픽디자인에 한정하여 진행하였다. 물론 그래픽디자인의 예술성에 대한 이론적 해석 및 접근은 그래픽디자인 전체적 관점에서 진행하였지만 디자인 작업에 있어서 개인용 PC
전자적 테크놀로지의 적극적 활용이라는 기술적 배경과 해체 혹은 탈구성의 표면화, 예술 형식의 적극적 수용을 통한 개성 창발의 극대화를 바탕으로 주관적, 독창적 표현이 많이 양산되고 있는 1990년대 이후의 현대 그래픽디자인의 예술적 성격에 대한 해석을 한정적으로 시도하였다.
연구의 방법은 예술에 대한 보편적 함의와 그래픽디자인의 예술성과 상업성의 관계에 대한 연구 등을 통해 그래픽디자인의 예술성에 대한 이론적 기반을 마련하였다. (p.110)

2. 예술과 예술성, 그리고 상업성
2-1. 예술에 대한 보편적 함의
'예술'의 사전적 개념은 '예술이란, 어떤 일정한 재료와 양식, 기교 등에 의하여 미를 창조하고 표현하는 인간의 활동, 또는 그 산물'이라고 되어 있다. 예술은 주체인 예술가가 새애각한 세계, 가치, 사물 등 어떤 대상을 자신의 방법으로 표현하여 아름다움을 창조하는 활동이다. (p. 110)
예술에 고유한 특성으로서의 고유성과 모든 것에 두루 미쳐 통하게 하는 성질로서의 보편성의 문제는 주관성과 객관성, 구체성과 보편성, 특수성과 일반성 등의 문제와 연결되며, 예술의 고유성은 개별자로서의 예술작품이 갖는 정체성이다. 개별자가 유형화되고 일반화된다면, 그것은 어떤 보편성을 지니는 존재가 되어 바람직한 성질로서의 보편적 고유성이 될 것이다. 고유성과 보편성, 개별자와 유형의 상호연결 관계는 구체적 삶을 토대로 형상화된 작품에 의미를 부여하는 해석학적 연결 작업인 것이다.(p.111)

GRAFFITI WORLD (Book)

I like both the second piece and the third piece. On the second piece, two men, who look like the same, are seen. The artist of the piece shows not only the contrast of the scale between two figures but also the contrast of the value between them. Such elements make two figjures look different. One looks more old than the right man, and the other man looks mor young than the left man. tThe right man's chracter also looks strong.
I also like the third piece. On the piece, varied abstrat works are seen. I like the color combiantion on them. The color looks so elegant and so artistic.

I like four colors on this piece. I also like the typhography and the rectangular design. Big rectangulars and small rectangulars are in harmony. This piece looks so elegant , so simple, and so clean.
